South Salem is located in the town of Lewisboro.  It covers 22 square miles and is composed of Salem Center, Purdys, Croton Falls and North Salem.  There is easy access to I-684 and I-84 and two stations on Metro North at Purdys and Croton Falls.

In the summer, the town park is a gathering point with its pool complex, tennis courts, playground and picnic pavilion.  Fairs and celebrations such as the Fourth of July fireworks can draw large turnouts at Onatru Farm on the east end of town, which also houses some town offices.

Schools and Educational Facilities
The Katonah-Lewisboro School District serves the town of South Salem. Schools in the district include Katonah Elementary, Increase Miller Elementary, Lewisboro Elementary, Meadow Pond Elementary, John Jay Middle School and John Jay High School.
